FATHERLESS REVIEWS

What readers are saying about Naomi Kusch’s powerful stage play

"I'm blown away and speechless, its priceless." —Kenneth"I knew this would be good and you totally overcame my expectations. Everyone, give it a read!!!! available on Kindle 🤝" —Luana"Fatherless is a bold, emotionally resonant play that dares to step into territory most writers fear to tread. Naomi Kusch’s debut work is a masterclass in psychological tension, layered character work, and thematic depth. With Lluwellyn, she gives us a protagonist whose desperation to be loved is so palpable it bleeds through every scene. An unforgettable debut from a fearless new voice in South African theatre.

"I just thought it would be a play about being fatherless but I did not expect the plot twist in Lluwellyn's story" —Jowie"Le ncwadi imnandi!" —Ntombi"Very hard-hitting, and certainty gets the point across, sad and very heart breaking. I hope you do very well and get a huge response." —Gail"It took me 2 days to read it and it left me disturbed. It rattled me. The ending was sad but you wrote it so beautifully" —Cindy"I gave 5star because the content of this book is amazing💯. This is definitely A Must Read Book👏" —Nosipiwe"The book is beautifully written, the description of the scenery and the plot is splendid. I love how the author takes in you the play to explore experiences with the characters. I’m still lost for words and mulling on the plot twist, never had I expected that finish. It’s raw, authentic and original. I love how the story line ignites the entire ideology of trauma and psychology."

"This book is so beautiful 🥹
Learned a lot about loving myself and to not be validation seeker.
As I’ve always been someone that seek validation. This book was telling me to not lose myself by seeking validation from other people. It did not just show me about a father importance much but showed me I’m a child loved by God I don’t have to go through so much seeking things of the World.
#fatherless" —Esihle
"I was blown away by ‘Fatherless.’ I went in with high expectations and after reading it, those expectations were all simultaneously met, exceeded and completely subverted. The play works best if you go in ‘blind.’
A short gripping read, it is the definition of dynamite comes in small packages – except this dynamite doesn’t immediately explode, it sizzles before burning up slowly and then ending with a bang, over and over again. It is sure to leave you thinking about it for days after reading. It also has moments of profound emotional wisdom that can, and should, be returned to more than once.
Devastating, healing, traumatic, therapeutic, obsessive, desperate, terrifying, and beautiful.—Yorke
